The Story & Experience

If you're on the hunt for authentic Mexican cuisine in Philadelphia, look no further than Day of the Dead Mexican Kitchen, located at 1900 E Cheltenham Ave. This charming eatery captures the heart and soul of traditional Mexican flavors, offering a tantalizing menu that will transport your palate south of the border.

At the forefront of the menu are their tacos, a staple of Mexican cuisine that shines bright here. Whether you're craving the succulent Birria made with tender, slow-cooked beef and oozing cheese, or the smoky and tangy Chorizo, each bite is a fiesta of flavor. With options like Steak, Tinga Birria, and Pollo Al Pastor, you can indulge in the culinary traditions that make Mexican food beloved worldwide. And let’s not forget the delightful side offerings like Street Corn – sweet, smoky, and perfectly charred – and a fresh bowl of Guacamole and Chips that is a must-have to complement your meal.

The atmosphere at Day of the Dead Mexican Kitchen is as warm and inviting as the dishes they serve. Customers rave about the friendly and helpful service, making it a fantastic spot for a family outing or a cozy date night. Enjoy your meal in a charming setting that feels like a true celebration of Mexican culture. Many patrons, like Charles Murray, have noted the big portions and great taste: “The food is fresh, flavorful, and made with care.”

For those looking to quench their thirst, the menu offers refreshing drinks, including authentic Mexican Coca-Cola and traditional Horchata, which perfectly complements the spices of your meal. As Laura Jeanne shares, "From the homemade drinks to the delicious Guacamole, Tacos, and Quesadillas!! Simply the best!!”

Conveniently located in front of a church, the eatery exudes a peaceful ambiance where you can enjoy a delicious meal in safety. For anyone passing through or residing in the area, it represents an essential stop on your culinary journey. And as regular customers like Chelle “Mischa” Shakir attest, they offer impressive service—even bringing food to your car on those especially cold or late nights.

Whether you’re a lifelong fan of Mexican cuisine or just looking for a place to gather with friends and family over fresh, authentic food, Day of the Dead Mexican Kitchen is a place where flavor and community unite seamlessly. Don't miss out on this local gem that is quickly becoming a staple for food lovers in Philadelphia!

Good food, good service, good location. The Mexican street corn is a must have, along with any choice. The family service is friendly and helpful, and they brought food to my car on cold or late nights. The location has street parking you can easily find and or walk from. Truck is in front of a church which feels peaceful and safe.

The Birria ramen 10/10 noddles a little overcooked, but other than that would be ordering again.

Some of the best food in the city...I like having leftovers generally but my food didn't last that long it was so good...service is always friendly and portions are generous

  • Alicia Kimmet

It was our first time trying this food truck and it didn't disappoint. What we really wanted to try was the birria but I know it's a hot commodity and runs our fast! We will definitely be back to try it though! We were so hungry we didn't take any pictures but we got steak quesadilla and chorizo tacos and the owner threw in some steak nachos. Everything was very good and fresh! Thank you! We will be back soon.
